Totality

Totality is a dramatic circular statement piece alive with aqua and royal blues, various shades of purple, metallic copper, luminous gold, and black liquid drips. It was titled after the dramatic event of the Solar Eclipse that took place on April 8, 2024.

This painting had been in progress for many years, with several layers and versions evolving over time. The final version was pronounced “Finished!” by Prea on the day of this Solar Eclipse, when it was completely dark outside at 3pm for a few minutes.  Therefore, due to this painting's circular shape, it was given a name relating to this rare celestial experience: “Totality”, which is the brief phase of a total solar eclipse when the moon completely blocks the sun's bright face, casting the moon's dark inner shadow onto Earth. 

The original has been sold, but Prea can hand-paint a closely matching piece in the size of your choice, naturally with subtle variations that make every recreation unique.
