Establish Connection
The very dark purple border intentionally frames the abstract and heavily textured composition of royal blue, turquoise, pink and white. Strategic layers of painting techniques such as washes, scrapes, scratches, splatters, and palette knife strokes, combined with rock-like material creating deep textures create the intricacy and depth of this work.
After Prea creates the painting, which is a deep conversation with the canvas and her soul over some undefined amount of time, she then sits back and observes the finished result to let the piece speak to her in order to find its name.
As a passionate dancer, many of Prea’s paintings end up reflecting the beautiful feelings experienced when dancing with a partner, particularly while dancing Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba, and Brazilian Zouk, because it’s just magical when two beings are moving together in an improv dance, interpreting the music as one body, and every movement between them is in sync. It is as if their spirits connect in one beautiful expression for the length of the song before it’s time to switch partners.
What spoke to Prea from this piece was the feeling of the first precious moments of starting a new dance with a partner, when you must Establish Connection with the partner in order to get on the same wavelength, where you “catch their vibes” so to speak, or where your spirits connect, which sets the course for the dance and lays the foundation for how beautiful and transcendent this dance will be.
The original painting is part of Prea's private collection, but Prea can hand-paint a closely matching piece in the size of your choice, naturally with subtle variations that make every recreation unique, or you can order a canvas print of this exact version.
